Food & Beverage Manager @ Via Amsterdam

Finally things are looking a bit brighter and we can focus on opening our inhouse restaurant and bar - The Dude - again. We are looking for an experienced F&B Manager, who would look forward to the challenge of creating a new team. Via Amsterdam is a big hostel - close to a 1000 beds - and we organize tons of cool events (DJ night, karaoke, beer pong) for our guests. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as have a separate grab & go concept. Therefore work days are dynamic and being able to plan, coordinate and motivate your team members is very important. 

You want our guest to have the best time and make sure that Via Amsterdam and The Dude will be something they remember forever (and maybe even miss a little). You lead from the front, as an operationally active support for your team. You are not alone in this; you will work closely with the Bar Manager, Floor Supervisor(s) and an enthusiastic team of Crew Members (all to be hired) of approximately 15 - 20 team members. Additionally, the Head Chef will report to you as well. In this role, you are part of the Management Team of Via Amsterdam.

A day in the life of... includes:

  • Working alongside with the team, when needed in operational duties.
  • HR related activities such as recruitment, onboarding & training of new employees, and performance management.
  • Stock management, e.g. stock control, ordering based on PAR levels, evaluate partnerships with suppliers etc.
  • Personnel planning, within budgeted guidelines.
  • Promotional activities.

Job requirements

It would be great if:

  • You possess great people skills. You understand that our team members are our biggest assets.
  • You enjoy achieving revenue targets and have a commercial mindset.
  • You show a flexible attitude, taking in account the needs and wishes of our guests during our varying events.
  • You are accurate and have strong organizational skills.
  • You have 1-2 years working experience in a similar role.
  • Dutch speaking preferred, but this is not a strong requirement.
